PROJECT PURPOSE
ThE Problem
In my Identity & Brand Design course I was tasked to build a brand with my own name. The project was meant to be a business within a previously existing industry, however I decided to take my brand in a slightly different direction by designing an idea for a start up my mom and I had previously come up with. UeckerBox is meant to give travelers who opt for a “vacation rental” a more stress-free way of exploring their destination. By delivering groceries to the customer and providing a short detailing of restaurants and activities in the area, Uecker Box equips its users with the materials to truly enjoy their vacation.
The solution
UeckerBox lies at a cross section between the travel and food industries, meaning there was lots of opportunity for adventurous branding. Through texture, color, and other elements, I explored how to illustrate the idea of travel and culture within the branding.
The TAKEAWAY
This project challenged me to create a brand within an existing industry that is both similar and different enough than its competitors. I had to understand the balance of industry norm and company originality and build my brand to be somewhat recognizable but fresh and new.
I had a lot of fun learning how to incorporate elements and develop a brand feel all on my own, and learned the importance of moodboarding and reminding yourself what you are creating throughout the design process.
